Perhaps they thought it would only be of interest to Scandinavians, which of course is a small market. I am sure Chris could have done a great book on the subject, I really appreciate his writing.
Walking the Keel is to my knowledge not that common, but someone might be better informed. However I believe that quite a few Norwegians (among them the famous Lars Monsen) and Swedes walk, or mostly ski, the mountain ranges on each side of the border. There seems to be an attempt right now to encourage people to walk the entire King's (or Royal) Trail in Sweden and make a 'thing' of it. I think we will see more thru-hiking in the years to come.
The first photo is of the valley Stuor Räitavagge with the pointy peak of Nallo in the upper right corner and the Vistas Hut in the lower left; Kebnekaise area. The last photo is from Sarvesvagge in Sarek NP. Both areas are probably the most spectaculary alpine in Sweden. Compared to the dramatic landscape in parts of Norway they are kinda low key...Jörgen Johanssonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01527089654222009239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26127907834394672.post-85761259894786649242010-07-05T15:09:05.882+02:002010-07-05T15:09:05.882+02:00Thank you! He might have something interesting to share about the trip though not being an UL/lightweight trip. I wonder if the next Nordic Lightpacking meeting in Sweden will be on some part of this trail? Maybe you guys should meet 5 times a year, so we can see this a bit quicker than 5 years if you just meet once a year in each bloggers home town. Or just meet 5 times a year, because then we would get 125 great posts, one every three days or so. I know I would like that!harttjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10198153546061928080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26127907834394672.post-37333718416066977522010-07-05T03:23:56.883+02:002010-07-05T03:23:56.883+02:00Great interview, I liked reading about the evoluti...Great interview, I liked reading about the evolution of the gear and packlist. Your comment “You told me a long time ago that interest was low at the time and that it only resulted in one newspaper article.”

That is telling, as 2200 Km is a hell of a long walk and I am sure Chris’s experiences on that trip would have made a wonderfully interesting book, particularly as Chris really does appreciate nature so much. It would appear that publishers would not have been interested in that particular long distance walk which is a great shame

Rob fae CraigellachieROBERThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11359725918261163561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26127907834394672.post-60076155251114447052010-07-03T12:36:19.099+02:002010-07-03T12:36:19.099+02:00Very good interview and kit discussion.
